ABOUT Kanya*

Kanya* survived sexual exploitation. It has taken 4 years of testifying in court cases that kept being delayed, cancelled and retried but her perpetrator is now in jail. Kakada* hadn’t attended school consistently so instead of going to school she started a sewing vocational program that includes basic numeracy and literacy. She loves the colour pink, jumping rope, and learning how to sew. She is passionate about fashion and would like to become a tailor someday!

Kanya* FAMILY

Kanya’s* mom, dad, and two little brothers are still living and working together in the provinces. Her mother works farming rice and her father was working in Phnom Penh until the time of my exploitation. When her parents confronted her perpetrator, her dad relocated his job to be closer to the family.

Kanya* FUTURE

Kanya’s counsellors and social workers will walk closely with her family ensuring we they are a safe and healthy. Once she has complete her sewing training she will be reintegrated into her own apartment once she finds a permanent job.
