ABOUT Panha*

While Panha’s* mother was working in Thailand she arranged for Panha* but the service she hired to get her across the border was a front for sexual exploitation. She was found abandoned on the border and kind strangers helped her get support and reported her case to the police. The perpetrators have been caught and the court case process is due to start soon.

Panha* left school when she was eight to help look after her younger siblings. She has been able to go back to school and is coming first in her class.

She loves eating soup and playing traditional Khmer games with a rubber rope. She would like to be a policeman.

PANHA* FAMILY

Panha*, her brother and her sisters all live with their grandmother in a rural province of Cambodia. Her mother has been divorced twice and she has recently married a Thai man she met while working in a factory in Thailand. She doesn’t have a consisted relationship father.

PANHA* FUTURE

Panha* will stay at the SHE Rescue Home while the court case ongoing. Her counsellor will make sure she has all the support she needs. Her social worker will assess when it is safe to reintegrate her home with her family.
